Save The Children!

Thank you to @SAHDandproud for tagging me.

As some of you may know i have a two and a half-year old son called Grayson who is disabled in various ways and if I am completely honest i wish he wasn’t.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t love him any less for how he is, but it’s very hard sometimes coping with him and I think if it wasn’t for the varied professional help he has had since birth not only would he not be where he is developmentally today but I think I may not be as positive as I am for the future.

In the world’s poorest countries, 8 million children under five die needlessly every year. They’ll never get the chance to fulfil their potential. Most are killed by illnesses we know how to prevent and treat, such as diarrhoea and pneumonia. And every single day, thousands of children face starvation. In 2011, this is totally and utterly wrong.

Even though we’ve had to fight for help from the system, I’d rather have it than not. Children from all over the world including the U.K don’t receive the health care they deserve. We need more health care workers worldwide. Lets do what we can to help!

  1. Well done baby thats an awesome post, I have signed the petition and agree very thankful to have the NHS care we do have for our babies.

  2. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult life must be sometimes and no I don’t think it is wrong to wish him not disabled. You never want your child to have a more difficult life than is necessary. But I am sure that little boy has open ideas, thoughts and feelings you never knew existed had he not been born.

When I had the twins we were told to prepare for Zachary to have downs Syndrome. The professionals were convinced and boy did we worry over it. On the day of their birth I was so relieved they were both breathing I didn’t even think to ask. We were very lucky that they had got it wrong and he was well, but I was relieved, again not because I would have loved him less but I know it would have brought it difficulties.

A great post and welcome to the community!

  3. What a lovely post, clearly completely from your heart and spoken like a true doting daddy. So pleased you linked up 🙂

  4. thanks so much for your post, it’s incredibly honest and very touching for that. I’m trying to read every post who contributed to this challenge as it was my idea I sort of feel responsible. As you can imagine, I’ve been bouncing onto blogs reading the post and commenting and bouncing off again. I was so touched by your post that I had a little look around; Welcome to the world of blogging, it’s addictive and as this challenge demonstrates an amazing supportive community. I saw your other photo of Grayson – he is a very beautiful boy (I am not a woman who says stuff unless she means it).
I hope you continue to feel positive for the future – best wishes and many thanks for joining
The blog looks great, if you have any ‘blog’ type queries give me a shout, I was terribly confused as a newbie – but maybe your more savey than me – anyhow, offers there, I probably won’t know answer but I will know someone who will.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words it means a lot, I will bare it in mind if I need any help with blogging once again thank you

Oh goodness. I am almost speechless and that is rare! Thank you so much for joining in and sharing your story. All these voices shouting loudly meant I could go to New York and talk with confidence and authority knowing I had the backing of so many people back home. Thank you.
